When setting up a test environment in VMware Workstation for MDT and Windows 8.1 Update I came across this error message “The following networking device did not have a driver installed. PCI\VEN_1022&DEV_2000&SUBSYS_20001022&REV_10” after importing the storage and network drivers into the boot image.

Screen 08-mei 0004

The networkdriver did not match the hardware. After adding the line ‘ethernet0.virtualDev = “e1000e”‘ to the vmx config file of the WIndows 8.1 VM the drivers worked.

ethernet0.present = "TRUE"
ethernet0.vnet = "VMnet2"
ethernet0.connectionType = "custom"
ethernet0.wakeOnPcktRcv = "FALSE"
ethernet0.addressType = "generated"
ethernet0.virtualDev = "e1000e"

After applying some optimizations from the “VMware Horizon View Optimization Guide” Adobe Acrobat reader gave an eror “poging om toegang te krijgen tot ongeldig adres” or in english “Attempt to access invalid address”:

2013-06-18_1041_Poging_om

This was due the following memory optimization registry key:

reg ADD “HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management” /v MoveImages /t REG_DWORD /d 0x0 /f

Only adobe Acrobat Reader was affected by this key, just don`t use it.
